Puppy & Kitten Visits

It’s important to us to help you and your new family member get off to the best possible start. We are happy that you chose our experienced team to kickstart your life of happy memories together! During the initial appointment, we will examine your new cat or dog and collect important information such as weight. We will then listen to their heartbeat to ensure it is healthy and strong and take their temperature. The initial appointment also includes examining the skin and the coat, looking at the teeth and the mouth, examining the ears and eyes, examining how well your pet breathes, and your pet’s overall body condition.

Other Things That May Be Checked

If you have a dog or a cat that is visiting us for the first time, it’s typically recommended that our vet in Bridgeport and surrounding areas examine a fecal sample to ensure it does not have any parasites. Our team will process the sample or submit it to an outside lab so it can be microscopically evaluated. This is especially important in young animals who are still building their immune systems, as it is common for them to have intestinal parasites that can be treated with the right medication. Getting your pet started on heartworm medication is also important and something that we will discuss with you during your initial visit.

Preparing for the Initial Visit

Once you’ve booked your initial appointment with us, ask our team whether or not you should bring in a fecal sample to be tested. You should also know the brand and type of food your pet is eating, whether or not you feed them any supplement, and come with a list of questions that our team can help answer. If you have any concerns, our team is happy to help address them during your initial appointment.

We know you want only the best care for your new family member, so we take pride in offering personalized care for your pet’s needs. Thank you in advance for trusting us to provide top-notch veterinary care in Bridgeport and the surrounding areas.
