Urban PetRx is a locally and independently owned veterinary care clinic, proud to bring veterinary services back to the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago.

We strive to provide modern veterinary medicine with traditional sensibilities. This means we have developed a contemporary clinic to offer the best care available for your pet, yet we don’t subscribe to the practice of upselling our services. Our goal is to be honest, fair, and to never guilt you into doing anything… We offer a friendly, compassionate and frank approach towards caring for your family pet, all in a judgement-free environment.

Dr. LaFave is the founding member of Urban PetRx.

She worked formerly as the Medical Director of the ER at Chicago Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center which is now MedVet Chicago. She has also held tenure as Chief of Staff at PAWS. She has a strong interest in urgent care, surgery, pain management, ultrasound, complex medical cases and integrative therapies. She received her graduate diploma in Veterinary Western Herbal Medicine (Grad Dip VWHM) after completing a 2 year course of study in western herbal medicine. She is also certified in acupuncture.

Dr. June LaFave earned her undergraduate degree in Anthropology (with a concentration in Human Biology) from the University of Pennsylvania in 1995. She then received her Veterinary Medical Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in 2003.

The entire team at Urban PetRx have extensive experience in the field of veterinary medicine and feel passionately about providing you with exceptional communication and honest information regarding your pet’s health. We will work with you by offering a range of treatment options or we will help you find an alternative to fit your budget.
